How I Preserve My Wash N Go's at Night (Pineapple Method)

Image
I often get many questions as to how I preserve my wash and go- why does it lasts me so many days without having to refresh my hair. All I do is the Pineapple method seen in this picture. I simply wrap my curls in a regular or very high ponytail (I do not double wrap or tie my hair)- Next, I put on my satin scarf and boom! I'm ready for bed. In the morning I simply take my hair down and shake my hair to bring all my curls back down. I do not manipulate it or add any products until its time to wash and refresh my WnG which I do so on a weekly basis! Hopes this helps all those that have asked me.     Check the video above to get an idea as to how I wrap my hair at night to preserve my curls :)

My Ponytail (Not a Puff)

Image
Most ask, " what is the difference between a ponytail and a puff?"   The answer is simple, a puff is when your hair is not long enough to grab it into a ponytail- a puff is giving the illusion of a ponytail. A ponytail is when u can actually grab and wrap/tie up your hair. I kind of miss my puff days sometimes but am very happy with my hair growth :)

Trimming My Natural Hair

......A light trim that is. I, as I have mentioned in the video do not have a trimming regimen or schedule. I trim when needed and where its needed only. Check the video out for more details :)

March 2, 2013 I celebrated 2 years since my last relaxer! I can't even begin to express how happy and excited I am to have made the decision to return back to my Natural roots! Im loving the journey and so far have not experienced any crazy setbacks! Left pic was my last relaxer back in March 2011- right picture is my all natural hair 2 years later. Whats the difference? My natural hair is much thicker and has surpass the length of my relaxed hair!! Im loving this journey!! My 3rd roller set on my Natural Hair

Image
First, lets take a look at my previous roller set back in February of this year: I have come a long way and still have a long way to go! I dont do a lot of roller setting mainly because I have to use a rat tail comb- I dont use any styling tools! I only use them when I do my roller sets which is why I don't do then as frequently! Im loving the thickness and fullness of my hair, and the bounce is awesome. I set my hair with my gray rollers. After having washed my hair I did my roller set applying my Giovanni's leave in conditioner and coconut oil. I have reached yet another goal. Last year after my big chop, I remember being extremely anxious to graduate back to roller setting my hair with the gray rollers.... A year later, I have accomplished this short term goal! Im more than excited :) Also, I am still living heat free, I allowed my hair to completely air dry before taking the rollers down! *Note: pos...

1 Year Natural Hair (Check)

Image
Today marks my 1 year Naturalversary. So far, it has been a marvelous experience- Time really does fly by quick, just "yesterday" I remember doing my Big chop and rocking my TWA and today ( a year later) I am at Arm pit length. Being Natural has taught me so much. The very first thing that it taught me was how beautiful I am, that I dont need long hair to feel confident and secure. I never, in my wildest dream, thought that I would go back to may natural hair, let alone chop off all my hair to go natural! Life has so many surprises in store for us all and it becomes a wonderful experience when we can just sit back and allow God to do what he does best. I say that God had a lot to do with my progress- cause I prayed and had faith that he would show me new things while on this journey and its been deeper than "just hair"--- Current Length October 2012: Here is a quick video recap of my 1 year journey- from my Big chop till now:   Follow me on In...

Finally made APL!

Image
My short term goal after I did my big chop was to reach apl before my 1 year naturalversary! Yesterday after having my husband stretch out my curl just for the heck of it- I found out that I am finally Arm Pit Length! I am more than happy and will only continue to fully care for my natural hair so I can retain longer lengths! My next short term goal is BSL- ;) Cant wait to write yet another blog post claiming this length! Peace- VannieC
